Brilliance in the Hands of Mexico

Step into the heart of Roma Norte, where craft, culture, and character converge under the curatorship of La Buena Hechura, a guardian of fine making in Mexico City. For this field trip, he opens the doors of his atelier to spotlight two makers whose work speaks quietly but powerfully of heritage and reinvention.

The journey begins with Martin Castez Ermili, an Argentinian shoemaker whose creations reflect a harmony of sharp structure and sensual materials. His designs are rooted in classical methods yet break new ground through bold shapes and rare, exotic skins sourced through a network few can access. Each pair tells a story of texture, form, and vision.

We then turn to the world of Atrezzo, born in the Yucatán, cradle of the guayabera. Designer Alonso presents The Evolution of the Guayabera—a living narrative that traces the garment’s journey from its humble, tropical origins to a refined expression of identity. In Alonso’s hands, the guayabera is remembered, reimagined, and relived.

This field trip is a window into the deep well of craft that Mexico holds, shaped by hands that carry memory, skill, and soul.
